Meet Flutist Nava Payandeh
Nava Payandeh is a Boston-based flutist known for her warm tone, expressive phrasing, and artistic versatility. Her musical journey began with both piano and flute in her early years, evolving into a career that bridges classical traditions with contemporary expression. She performs across a wide range of styles, including orchestral, chamber, and solo repertoire, with a deep sensitivity to musical color and nuance.
Nava holds a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Utah and a Master of Music from Montclair State University, where she studied on a full scholarship. Her principal teachers include Tanya Witek, Lisa Byrnes, and Caitlyn Valovick Moore.
She was honored to serve as the only flute intern at the 2023 Atlantic Music Festival, where she collaborated with distinguished musicians and immersed herself in contemporary and large-ensemble works. During her undergraduate studies, she was named a Presser Undergraduate Scholar, the most prestigious award bestowed by her department in recognition of exceptional musical and academic achievement.
In addition to performing, Nava is a passionate educator dedicated to inspiring students through individualized and expressive music-making.
